Town of Groveland Highlights February Events at Langley-Adams Public Library

GROVELAND — The Town of Groveland and Langley-Adams Public Library Director Darcy Lepore are pleased to share scheduled programming for children, teens, and adults throughout the month of February. 

“We always have something fun planned for adults, teens and children at the Langley-Adams Public Library, and I invite all community members to stop by in person or connect with us via Zoom to check out all our offerings,” said Director Lepore. “Whether you’re interested in book discussions, crafts, or the history behind classic films, we might have something for you.”

Adult Programs

Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. — Virtual/Zoom Program — The Great British Baking Tour

This program will offer a delightful culinary tour of the United Kingdom inspired by “The Great British Baking Show” television series that airs on PBS. Learn about making a proper cup of tea, regional specialties, their origins, and the particular parts of the U.K. they hail from. Even the trickiest parts of British recipes will be translated for Americans so you can try them in your own kitchen. The program will offer up useful travel tips as well, just in case you’d like to create your own tour! Led by Claire Evans, a U.K. travel/relocation consultant and former U.K. resident. The Tewksbury Public Library will be the host of this virtual program that is a collaboration among libraries in Groveland, Tewksbury, Andover, and Lowell.

Monday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. — Virtual/Zoom Program — Movies of Winter: Comedies and Family Fare

This program will feature the Langley-Adams Library’s movie guy Frank Mendosa sharing behind-the-scenes looks at some of the funniest comedies and most heartwarming family movies that feature winter-themed entertainment. Movies that will be examined include Edward ScissorhandsCool RunningsGroundhog DayGrumpy Old MenWhile You Were SleepingIce AgeMiracle, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the WardrobeArctic Tale, and Frozen. There will be trivia, movie clips, fun facts and prizes for those who participate.

Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. — Virtual/Zoom Program — Talking Trash and Recycling with Keep Massachusetts Beautiful

If you want to find out what should go into your trash bin, what should go into your recycling bin, and what happens to both the trash and the recycling from the Town of Groveland, tune in to this presentation from Keep Massachusetts Beautiful. There will also be discussion of the plastic pollution crisis, ways to reduce the amount of trash your family generates, and how easy changes can lead you to a more sustainable lifestyle. This will be a roughly 45-minute interactive program with 15 to 30 minutes for questions and answers at the end.

Monday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. — Virtual/Zoom Program — Only Dead Leaves Fall

Vincent Donovan, author of Chasing Mayflies and Difficult Crossing, returns to the Langley-Adams Public Library to discuss his newest book Only Dead Leaves Fall, a psychological thriller and post-apocalyptic horror novel that is a departure from Donovan’s previous works.

Teen Programs

Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 3:30 p.m. — Teen DIY Face Mask/Scrub Making

Teens ages 12 to 17 are invited to learn to use household ingredients to make their own face masks or facial scrubs that will help soften skin. Supplies are provided. Anyone with questions can contact Youth Services Librarian Jenny Usovicz at jusovicz@langleyadamslib.org.

Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 11:30 a.m. — Elephant and Piggie Story Time and Craft

Thursday, Feb. 24, at noon — Kids’ DIY Snow Globes

Friday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. — Drop-in LEGO Club

Winter Story Time Series

Librarians will host story time for babies, toddlers and preschoolers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in February. In addition to stories, there will be songs, crafts, and other fun activities based on age group. Registration is required due to limited space in each session.
